Nelsons family came to the US from Cuba where they started a Cuban bakery
business in Hialeah, FL. With family roots that ran deep in the cattle and horse
industry in Cuba, Nelson came by his desire to learn to rope naturally. With a
lot of hard work and ability, Nelson has become one of the most successful
team ropers in the South East. He is the 2002 SE Circuit Heading Champion,
DNCFR qualifier 2003 plus wins at Austin, TX, Guymon, OK, Red Bluff, CA,
Pro-Tour Rodeos. Nelson is also the 2005 Season NTRL Open Champion.
